Siesta Key Beach gets named one of the best beaches in the country almost every year — which also means it's one of the busiest in Sarasota. The difference between a relaxed visit and a frustrating one usually comes down to what time you arrive, not which day you pick.

Before 9:30 a.m., any time of year
This is the window most out-of-town visitors never figure out. Before 9:30 a.m., the main lot still has spots open, the sand is cool, and the light is best for photos. If you're traveling with young kids or just want a quiet walk along the shore, this is it.
High season (December through April)
During high season, the main Siesta Key Beach lot tends to fill up between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on weekends, a bit later on weekdays. Arrive after that and you should plan on parking farther out or circling for a spot.
Low season (May through November)
Here the margin is much bigger. The lot rarely fills before noon on weekdays. Heat and humidity are stronger, so the ideal window shifts: go early morning or after 4 p.m., once the sun eases up but you've still got a couple of comfortable hours of daylight left.
The window almost nobody uses: sunset
Siesta Key Beach faces west, so sunsets are part of the draw. Showing up two hours before sunset gets you a nearly empty beach, comfortable temperatures, and the best light of the day for photos — without competing for parking with the midday crowd.
